What is the School Council?
The School Council works to make improvements to the school and the way we do things at Whitehills Primary School. Each class has a School Councillor, who leads the meeting in their own class to ensure all our children have a voice. They also get involved in important decisions when we recruit new staff.
How do we choose our School Councillors?
We hold elections at the start of each year. All children are given the opportunity to stand for the post of School Councillor. They create their manifesto (the reasons why the class should vote for them), present to their class and then, we have our school polling day, when the children go to the polling station to vote for their councillor.
What are the School Council working on this year?
We are working towards a ‘Changemaker Award’ with the University of Northampton. We want to make a change to improve the recycling that takes place in the school.
