Welcome to Whitehills Library – at the heart of our school
Our librarian, Mrs Frodsham, is in school every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. She is assisted by a great team of Pupil Librarians from Years 4 to 6. All classes visit the library regularly to select their own book. Children in Years 1 to 4 may keep their books for 1 week, pupils in Years 5 and 6 have a longer loan period of 2 weeks.
Through Purple Mash, our children show their love of reading by blogging reviews of books they have read and give recommendations to their peers. Children have the opportunity to recommend the books we have purchased to keep our library current and well-stocked.
Mrs Frodsham’s passion for reading ensures children from EYFS upwards value our library. Our youngest children have library sessions and regular story time with Mrs Frodsham.
Our school library catalogue can be accessed here (CLICK HERE FOR LIBRESOFT LIBRARIAN)
You can log onto our library catalogue from home. You and your child can browse the books that we have in the library, see which new books have been added recently, check your child’s loans and read and write book reviews. Each child has an individual login. Mrs Frodsham or the class teacher will be able to assist with logging in.
At Whitehills Primary School, we know how important reading for pleasure is. Below are links to some great websites to help with choosing books and getting tips on encouraging your child to read. You are the best role model for this; talk about reading; share your favourite books; ask your child what they like or don’t like about their books.
